Sergei Vassiliev
Sergei Vassiliev currently serves as the principal clarinetist of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic as well as a substitute clarinetist for the Houston Symphony Orchestra. He can also be seen performing at the critically acclaimed Classical Underground in Los Angeles and at the Festival Mozaic in San Luis Obispo. Mr. Vassiliev began his musical career at the age of 12 when he became a prize winner at International Young Artist Competition in Kharkov, Ukraine. Since then he received several scholarships to the top music conservatories in the US, including Interlochen Arts Academy and Rice Shepherd School of Music. A few recent honors include a career grant from the Santa Barbara Foundation and The Bruce Zalkind Memorial Music Award from the University of Southern California. Mr. Vassiliev has collaborated with such artists as Janos Starker, Lynn Harrell, John Williams, and Alan Silvestri. Mr. Vassiliev's principal teachers include Yehuda Gilad, Michael Webster, Fred Ormand, and Richard Hawkins. He plays on Rico Reserve Classic Reeds.
