The Colorado Springs Philharmonic is once again offering the “Conductor in the Classroom Program” to area high school orchestra and band programs. This is the third year for this very popular outreach program.
Colorado Springs Philharmonic Music Director Lawrence Leighton Smith or Associate Conductor Thomas Wilson will be available to attend and actually lead a rehearsal of your band or orchestra. The Maestros may also share their insights into the process and joys of making great music come to life.
We are able to offer these visits by Maestros Smith or Wilson beginning in January and continuing through the end of the school year. A time block of approximately 45 minutes is the norm and we will make every attempt to accommodate your rehearsal schedule.
We can also arrange for our conductors to visit general classrooms at any grade level.
In addition to the Maestro’s visit, we are continuing to offer student tickets priced at $12 to our Classical Masterworks, Pick of the Pops and Mozart and Friends concerts during the winter and spring of 2007. These tickets are made available on an individual basis or as group sales. Attached is a list of concerts remaining in the 2006-2007 season. Please contact me directly if you and your students would like to take advantage of purchasing a block of tickets to any of the remaining classical concerts of the season.
If you have any questions, or if you would like to arrange a time for either Maestro Smith or Maestro Wilson to attend a rehearsal, please fill out the attached registration form or contact the Colorado Springs Philharmonic at 884-2110.
